Membership in Christians Assemblies shall be open to all born again, and ideally baptized, Christians. While respect and cooperation with the leadership, views, and practices of our fellowship are expected, and biblical, no believer should be excluded from joining because of differences on non-essential beliefs. Whom Christ receives we should embrace. Truly, as fellow believers, we are already members one of another in the body of Christ, which is the church. Let’s act like it!

A New Fellowship of Churches

Realizing that organizations often grow stagnant and resistant to change over time, and desiring both to be and to have a fresh move of the Spirit in this and following generations, we seek to establish a fellowship of churches wherein those of like precious faith may together pursue, to the best of their knowledge and ability, a renewed commitment to Christian unity, biblical fidelity, missional passion, and church vibrancy as active participants in the work of the gospel, spreading His kingdom the world over.

Elder-led

Christian Assemblies, ideally, are elder-led congregations. That means congregations should be overseen by a group of men sharing the pastorate, and not a lone pastor and staff. While there are similarities to congregational, episcopal and hierarchal systems, we find churches as elder led modeled in the New Testament. Therefore we seek to implement the same. In fact, we understand elders as serving at all levels of oversight in the New Testament church and have structured our denomination accordingly. Though it is accurate to say our polity is presbyterian (with a lower case “p”), to distinguish us from Presbyterian (with an upper case “p”) denominations, we prefer the elder-led descriptive.

Financial Transparency

Imagine a financial system where transparency is the rule, not the exception, where leaders and offices are accountable to the poeple and local churches for howmthey steward the resources delegated to them. Imagine a philosphy that seeks to keep most funds in the local church – driving ministry at the grassroots level, not building a denominational empire. That’s what we intend for churches in fellowship with the UCA. Congregations will be expected to disburse only 10% of all funds received to the their respective regional offices, and so on. In turn regional offices, etc., will provided detailed and timely financial reports to the fellowship; includng it’s churches, ministers, and members. The goal is to promote trust and good will while empowering local churches in the work of the gospel.
